Our Story
On June 20–21, 2025, we gathered in Rome for the international workshop “Food Policy Councils in Action: Experiences, Lessons, and Work in Progress”, organized by the Center for Food Studies at The American University of Rome and the Rome Food Policy Council.
The event was held under the patronage of the University of Luxembourg, the University of Florence, CURSA, the Rete Politiche Locali del Cibo, and the Department for Agriculture, Environment and Waste Cycle of Roma Capitale – IV Permanent Environmental Commission.
Over two days, representatives of Food Policy Councils from around the world joined researchers, practitioners, and civic networks—both in person and online—to exchange experiences, share successes and failures, and discuss work in progress.
The workshop was more than an event: it became a meeting point for diverse voices, a space to build trust, and a starting point for ongoing collaboration. Its energy continues to inspire the community we are growing today.
